More than Technique

I am often reminded that at Kentucky Repertory Dance Theatre, we are doing more than just training dancers in their technique. While we try to perfect choreography for a performance, we allow God’s artistry to flow through us. When this happens, a powerful foundation of ministry is being laid even for our littlest dancers.

I set your instructions to music and sing them as I walk this pilgrim way. I meditate on your name all night, God, treasuring your revelation, O God.

Through meditation and prayer, we choose music that challenges our dancers in their technique, yet allows them to grow closer to the One who gave us the ability to dance.  As we teach our students to point their toes, we are also teaching them to praise God in their movement.

Some emerge among us, who have the natural ability to minister with excellence of spirit, soul, and body. When we recognize this unique giftedness from the Spirit, we work hard with these young people,  guarding them in our hearts and prayers.

It is our fervent hope that all our dancers will want to glorify God in all that they do, and that His love will shine forth in their dance. We never want to walk outside of God’s love and anointing. With our movement unified on stage, it is our prayer that the audience enjoys moments of meditation and worship with us.
